NAWIC Maine and AGC Maine Announce Co-Hosting of Fourth Annual Maine Construction Career Days

News,

Bath, Maine – The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Maine Chapter #276 and the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Maine continue their partnership to co-host the fourth annual Maine Construction Career Days (MCCD), a premier hands-on event designed to inspire high school students to explore rewarding careers in the construction and transportation industries. Scheduled for October 9, 2025, the event builds on the success of previous years, which have engaged thousands of students in immersive learning experiences.

Maine Construction Career Days offers students from public and private high schools across the state a dynamic opportunity to interact with industry professionals, operate heavy equipment under supervised conditions, and discover diverse pathways in fields such as welding, carpentry, engineering, and project management. The event emphasizes safety, innovation, and inclusivity, featuring exhibitors from leading construction firms, state agencies, labor unions, and trade organizations. Highlights include interactive challenges, apprenticeship information sessions, and on-site demonstrations that showcase real-world applications of construction skills.

The program, hosted by NAWIC Maine Chapter #276 and supported by AGC Maine marks a significant collaboration aimed at addressing Maine's growing workforce needs while students from a wide variety of backgrounds experience construction careers.

"NAWIC Maine is thrilled to partner with AGC Maine to bring this transformative event to another generation of students," said Nicole Lemieux, President of NAWIC Maine Chapter #276. "Our mission is to empower women in construction, and events like MCCD open doors for young people to see themselves building Maine's future. Together, we're fostering a more inclusive industry that reflects the talent of our entire community."

Kelly Flagg, Executive Director of AGC Maine, added, "AGC Maine is committed to building a skilled, diverse workforce to meet the demands of our state's infrastructure projects. Co-hosting MCCD allows us to connect students with hands-on experiences and reliable career pathways, ensuring Maine's construction sector remains strong and innovative. We are excited to play this part in sparking the next wave of industry leaders."
