AGC Maine is a leader in legislative policy and regulatory reform in the industry. Last session, we testified on over 80 bills being heard at the Maine Legislature and defeated bills that would have created complex standards, raised fees, and added burdensome regulations. AGC Maine is Building a Foundation to the Future of the Industry AGC Maine offers workforce training for incumbent workforce, as well as providing apprenticeship & pre-apprenticeship programs through the Maine Construction Academy and offering post-secondary education support through AGC Maine’s Education Foundation. Our staff is here to provide a resource for members. AGC Maine has six steering committees run by members, for members discussing and solving industry issues including, but not limited to: legislative, safety, regulatory, and training, and hosting roundtable discussions with federal & state agencies to ask questions, share concerns, and improve communication and processes for the industry. AGC Maine also hosted over 22 events last year, both member-exclusive and open to all, offering constructors across the state an opportunity to create lasting connections to serve them in their careers & lives for years to come. We assist with problems or questions related to safety, training, technical and legislative. AGC Maine provides the ability for industry issues to be researched, discussed and outcomes to be executed with professional leadership. This year, we created and delivered a custom training program for a member company with an urgent need on holiday weekend, freed up a construction project that was stalled in a state regulatory process and weighed in on a local referendum that lead to a $2 million dollar job being awarded. Affiliate members are companies that supply and support the construction industry and do not perform contractor work specifically. Examples are: suppliers, insurance/bonding companies, banking institutions, architects, engineers, flagging services and consulting services.
