Fairfield, Maine – The Associated General Contractors of Maine (AGC Maine) kicked off the Maine Construction Academy Immersion Program at the Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC) Fairfield campus this past Monday, May 11, 2026.

The program is one of five running in 2026 as part of a recent partnership with the Maine Community College System (MCCS) and The Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce. The Maine Construction Academy Immersion Program is a four-week hands-on initiative designed to prepare Maine residents for meaningful careers in the construction trades at select MCCS colleges across the state.

Managed by AGC Maine, the Maine Construction Academy Immersion Program is a certified pre-apprenticeship that provides participants with hands-on training, industry-recognized credentials, and direct connections to employers throughout the state. Graduates of the program are well-positioned to enter registered apprenticeship programs, pursue post-secondary education and training, and advance along clear career pathways within Maine’s growing construction industry.

“The Maine Construction Academy Immersion Program is an important investment in Maine’s workforce and economic future. Through this partnership with the Maine Community College System and The Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce, we are providing participants with hands-on training, industry-recognized credentials, and direct access to meaningful career opportunities in the construction industry. This program is helping to build a strong pipeline of skilled professionals who will support Maine’s growing construction workforce for years to come,” said Kelly Flagg, Executive Director of AGC Maine.

"This partnership reflects our shared commitment to strengthening Maine’s workforce pipeline and creating career opportunities in the construction trades. We are excited to continue working alongside AGC Maine to prepare the next generation of construction professionals through hands-on employer driven training,” said Elizabeth Fortin, Dean of Workforce Training & Professional Development at KVCC.
