      The course is of primary interest to contractors, but also beneficial to municipal code enforcement officers, engineers, and public works employees. The Course is required for certification in Erosion Control practices and will cover topics like –

      • Methods of Erosion Control (e.g., riprapping, mulch, and sediment barriers)
      • Proper selection, installation, and maintenance practices

      SAFETY & WORK ZONE - 
      • Learn common first-aid techniques to injuries on the job site

      A basic course recommended by OSHA as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1926. OSHA 10 is the standard in the industry for any entry-level and a must for supervisors and foremen who manage sites. AGC Maine provides a higher level of training by incorporating current fire supervisors and foremen who apply the principles of safety in life experiences useful to everyone on the job site today.

      AGC Maine will issue a card certifying completion.

      This course provides a working knowledge of the “Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (2009) and will include:

      • Principles of traffic control
      • Installation and removal techniques
      • Safe traffic control areas for workers, motorists, and pedestrians.

      All privately employed flaggers must have training consistent with the “Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.” This course will train and test participants to be the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) “Flagger Certifiers,” who are responsible for training and certifying employees within their own companies to be flaggers.

      This course allows you to train flaggers under your employment.

      Course Summary:

      • Guidance to safely work in hazardous environments
      • Cleanup of hazardous waste sites

      Course assists in satisfying the annual training requirement of Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) rule, found in Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

      LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT - 

      In this two-day course, participants are led through four topics to elevate their leadership within their teams. Participants will cover topics like –

      • the disconnect between what managers want, and what employees need and how to bridge that gap to create a cohesive team;
      • key qualities of a great supervisor and common supervisory pitfalls;
      • how to handle declining performance indicators and which tools are best used to support struggling team members;
      • techniques to manage conflicts and the benefits to resolving conflict quickly and thoroughly;
      • and, more!

      Conflict resolution is a key component of success in any work environment. It is a natural by-product of people having different needs, interests, ideas and goals. No matter what your job, you will face conflicts both large and small, and the ability to recognize and deal with conflict is a core skill necessary to thrive. In this program we will cover causes of conflict within an organization, techniques to manage those conflicts and the benefits to resolving conflict quickly and thoroughly.

      You may wonder why we discuss different generations in the workplace. Many conflicts arise from two people seeing the same situation through different lenses. Each of the four current generations in our workplace have different general characteristics, communication styles, and needs. Understanding each generation can help any employee better navigate workplace relationships and interactions. In this workshop, we will discuss the generational characteristics as well as how each prefers to work and communicate to bridge the gap between the generational divides.
