Thomas Sutherland

Thomas was born and raised in Richmond, Maine. He enjoys the small-town life, where it’s quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. After graduating from High School, Thomas joined the US Army as an Infantryman in 2002, then assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division, followed by twelve years with the 10th mountain division. He has served in all positions of an Infantry platoon. He is a team player and understands how to build a cohesive environment to promote learning and teamwork. His Leadership skill has been sought by many for his expertise and technical and tactical proficiency. Thomas was deployed on three combat deployments to Afghanistan (2003,2006-2007,2009), once to Iraq (2004), and once to Africa (2018). His other positions include Drill Sergeant, Battalion Operations, Liaison to US Army Africa Command in Vicenza, Italy, and a Military Science Instructor for Syracuse University Army ROTC Program. He has also worked with the Cameroonian and Gahanna Embassies in Rome, Italy. In August 2022, he retired from the US Army with 20 Years of service. After leaving the military he wanted to continue to build teams and keep educating the workforce.

For fun: Thomas loves the outdoors and activities of fishing, hunting, sport shooting, and boating. Most of the time, he can be found doing whatever his daughter wants to or at one of her sporting events. He enjoys cooking, whether it’s on the stove or the grill.

Interesting tidbit: Thomas was in the movie War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning. He is in the scene where the Soldiers shoot down the first alien with the Javelin. He has been to twenty-three countries and four different continents.
